Welcome to the first "Can You Relate" Tuesday at Smart and Trendy Moms.
This week's topic: The other day, Jennette and I were discussing how some simple things that you don't even have to think about before you're a mom become extremely difficult after you have kids.
Read Jennette's Post and then tell us in a post on your blog "Can You Relate?":
As a mom of three I have come across some pretty crazy challenges to accomplish what I used to do without even thinking! I often wonder what types of things other moms come up with to make these everyday things run more smoothly.
Once upon a time, you were able to pee alone (yes I said pee), shower alone, enjoy a meal, and the list goes on and on. But when you become a mom suddenly those things go in the can. What I find most challenging and at times fun is trying to get a shower in before 2pm without little eyes watching me.
I have two toddlers at home in the mornings and for me to take a shower requires careful planning, thought and strategy. But almost always ends up the same way. It goes a little something like this:
After lunch I put my plan into place (yes lunch, effective showers before noon are rare). I have all my things ready to go.The house cleaned up and everyone fed. I try to find some of the coolest already played with toy to distract the little one in the hall next to the bathroom. There is a baby gate so he can still see me and
monitor mommies 35 second shower.
As i finally get things ready to head to the shower i step over the baby gate and totally stub my toe. Well when your 1 and 3 seeing mommy half naked hopping on one foot is hilarious, so we keep that momentum going and just go with it. Finally when my foot stops throbbing and I can walk I make my way into the shower where I know I have like one minute to entertain or hear my little guy loosing it in the hall.(I forgot to tell you that he thinks if he cant see mommy, that I must have disappeared in the shower...No such luck). As the ten second hair washing begins I do my first peek-a-boo sighting and begin playing peek-a-boo with him peeking out the shower. This is all happening while washing. As I am playing and washing the game is halted my the freakn' soap in my eyes.
Cant let burning eyes stop me, so we continue playing while washing and after that I get out only to be watched by both of them getting dressed. My 1 year old son just stares and my 3 year old girl says "mom are my boobs going to look like that?" I say "goodness, I hope not." And then I thank them for being so great while mommy took a shower! And begin planning for my next mission to not be a Desperate Dirty Mom!
